Nelson Mandela: "Forgiveness liberates the soul. It removes fear. That is why it is such a powerful weapon."

I choose this quote because I think that it represents the first step for change, for revolution . If we forgive, we start being more clear in our thoughts and we have the possibility of being open minded.

Nelson Mandela said: "To build our nation, we need to inspire our people. We need inspiration to buil this nation."

I choose this quote because he is talking about what he "used" to improve in his own life: INSPIRATION. And he, as a president, still thougth that inspiration was what people need to improve their life and build the nation and, of course, becoming a good lider, he gave people the inspiration they needed.

-After climbing a great hill , one only finds that there are many more hills to climb.
-Education is the Most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world.
-
-If you talk to a man in a language he understands , that goes to his head . If you talk to a man in his language, that goes to his heart.
-It always seems impossible until it's done.
I quite agree with the above and some of them happen in our daily life.

I haven’t been able to choose the most memorable quote of the movie, I couldn’t make a choice. Nevertheless, I’ve chosen a quote that I consider interesting and important due to its meaning beyond its words.
I have selected one sentence that Mandela says when the Springboks have finished with their training after visiting children from different towns. At that moment, the president is interviewed on TV. The interviewer asks him if it was true that he used to support any team who played against the Springboks (all blacks did it, because Springboks represented apartheid).
Mandela admits it but he adds that it wasn't like that anymore; and he explains:
”After all, if I cannot change when circumstances demand it, how can I ask others to?”
I think that, through these words, Mandela teaches us some important lessons. In the first place, he is not afraid of showing who he was. He doesn't try to hide his past even though it shows that he has not always been coherent with his present ideas.
And that leads me to the second aspect that I want to remark. Mandela shows the importance of being able to change. His own life has shown him that people, society and circumstances change, and what’s more: sometimes they must change.
Finally, another remarkable aspect to be considered is the importance that Mandela gives to setting an ‘example’. Teaching by example is his favourite way of teaching; and it is as admirable as effective.

Nelson Mandela said to his daughter:
"you criticize withouth understanding. You seek only to address your own personal feelings. That is selfish thinking. It does not server the nation"
Thats why Mandela is the most admired figure of our age.

The quote that i have chosen is from the poem that inspired Mandela:
"My head is bloody, but unbowed".

I think Mandela had always in mind this part of the poem as he NEVER surrendered even when he suffered lots of years in prision. He always continued fighting for what he believed, a new South Africa.

If I had to choose Mandela’s best phrase, it would be: “to balance black’s aspirations to white’s fears” because this means President Mandela’s most difficult challenges. I believe so because of two important reasons: Mandela was the most important character in the country chosen by black people to end apartheid but he decided not to take revenge when he became the President although he was sent to jail for forty years by white people. So, this position wasn’t welcome by the rest of the society because they wanted to see white people suffer as he had done it. Fortunately, this situation improved through Françios and his rugby team because Mandela found in rugby the opportunity to unify black and white people, as he said: “we are going to built our nation using every brick available to us, even if that brick comes wrapped in green and gold”.

I’m thinking about how you spend 30 years in a tiny cell, but come out ready to forgive the people who put you there.
I choose this quotation because I think it shows how particular and special being Nelson Mandela was.
Not many people in this world have done the same, true forgiveness and this selfless commitment are exceptional gifts, very difficult to find and even more difficult to understand as Pienaar expressed in that phrase. People like Mandela are treasures for the entire humanity, keeping and practicing their wisdom should be our aspiration and duty.

How do you inspire your team to do their best ?
I think this question in the film is shows the Mandela’s humility, one of his most remarkable characteristic, and it also also marks the tendency to organize the nation under forgiveness and the healthy spirit of sports.
Forgiveness liberates the soul.
He uses this sport as a way to join people. He used a sports man to ask for help.

"The rainbow nation" is a quote to highlight. I think that it's the ideal of a lot of people around the world, and if everybody incorporate to his way of think and act, most of the problems that we have today will dissapear. There won`t be more discrimiation, people that is not happy with itself and probably a big part of wars will be end.

"The day I am afraid to do that (risking his political capital) is the day I am no longer fit to lead."

I chose this quote because I admire the Mandela's strong personality to make difficult decisions in a divided country.
He understood what he had to do and he did it, without concerning about the bad consecuences for him. That's being a leader.

I don't remember exactly the quote, but i think that it was important when Mandela read the front page's titles of the newspaper to his bodyguards...
in that moment, it was evident his humbleness, because he understood that wining an election does not mean anything... the things that you do after wining it are the ones that make you a leader..

I chose a quote from the poem that inspired Mandela While he was in prison:
"I am the master of my fate:
I am the captain of my soul"
The first time I read this phrases I became touched because they are not only a strong, but also beautyful way to say that every human being, even in almost the worst situation, is the owner of his mind, soul and destiny.

"How do we get them to be better thn they think they can be? Inspiration, perhaps. How do we inspire ourselves to greatness when nothing less will do?How do everyone aroud us?I sometimes think it is by using the works of other¨" I love this quote because it shows Mandela's hard and productive work,it shows the plenty leadership ability he has inspiring and encouraging by his own example, showing thatchanges begin inside in his self by then you can teach the others to progress to be better than they think they are.(LF)
